4sqwifi – find a venue and its available wifi

Thanks to the Olympics, London should be getting a lot more free Wifi spots soon.  However, while you wait for that, and in case it doesn’t cover every single part of London ;-) check out 4sqwifi

This handy little app pulls user generated tips from venues listed on foursquare. Using the API it shows only venues that it has passwords for. Plus you can add. (I added The Folly’s password last night) Its not a list of secret passwords as such, but some of these venues don’t display the password anywhere. Plus you can have a look before hand if you need to get access.

There are tips on whether the wifi is shit too, plus some places change the wifi password, this tool will let you know.  (If you want to piss your mates off – add their pass words too) ;-) I reckon once you visit and check in to a good number of venues in your work or local area you won’t need to start up the tool as your device should remember the login details for where it is you are.

You don’t need a Foursquare login, in fact you don’t have to login at all. It simple finds venues around you and what you need to login. Done.

Best of all its free. Give it go.
